Servant King
Passover day in The Passion Week is full of significant, emotionally impactful events. At the Passover meal, Jesus washes His disciple's feet, institutes the taking of Communion, and gives the commandment of love (John 13:34). During this evening Jesus also predicts His betrayal by Judas and Peter's denial. Just as throughout His whole life on earth, Jesus spent His final hours devoted to serving those around Him. By His acts of humble service, He not only expressed the full extent of His love but also set an example of how we are to live - as servants of love to all who God places in our path. Meditate on Jesus as our Servant King - He who not only died as the sacrifice for our sins but also lived out the pattern for our lives.
Reading: Luke 22:7-38; John 13
Idea: Plan a special family time to celebrate communion together today and reflect on who Jesus is and the example that He set for us on this day in history.
