What is water baptism?
Water baptism is an outward expression of an inward work of salvation. Through baptism you are publicly professing your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
We baptize by full immersion, as it signifies our old self being buried with Jesus in the watery grave and being raised to new life in Christ! (Romans 6:1-11)

Why should I be baptized?
In the Great Commission, Jesus commands us to be baptized, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matt 28:19). As disciples of Jesus, we want to do what He says!
When should I be baptized?
If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the first step of obedience to Him is Water Baptism (Acts 8:12, Acts 2:38-41; 8:26-39; 10:44-48). There is no reason to wait or question if this is for you! Also, if you were baptized in the past and did not understand what you did when you did it, we invite you to be baptized here at Northwest Church.
What am I saying by being baptized?
- I am not ashamed of Jesus Christ.
- I surrender my life to become His disciple.
- I have died with Christ.
- I have risen from the dead with Christ.
Am I being baptized into a particular church or denomination?
No, baptism represents your faith in Christ. It is not necessary to be baptized into the Foursquare denomination or Northwest Church.
Should children be baptized?
As baptism is meant to be the outward expression of a person's inward faith, it's best to wait until a child is old enough to make the decisions that water baptism represents.
At Northwest Church we prefer to wait until a child is at least 12 years of age before baptizing them. However, we recognize some children mature spiritually earlier than others. If your chid is ages 9-12 and desires to be baptized, a pastor will meet with them, teach about the meaning of baptism and discern whether the child is ready to be baptized.
For infants and young children, we have Child Dedications where parents commit to raising their child in the ways of Jesus Christ with the support of the church. Register HERE for Child Dedication.
